Overview
SmartStump Pro is a full set of cricket stumps and smart bails with a 4K wide-angle camera, impact sensors and an edge AI processor built inside standard stump dimensions. It detects bowled, LBW support events, edges and bail dislodgement on-device and sends a decision, replay and data to the umpire's tablet in under 150 ms.
The problem
Club, school and academy cricket is decided by naked-eye umpiring, while ball-tracking and snick detection remain locked inside broadcast-grade systems costing tens of thousands of dollars per match. Close calls on faint edges, bail movement and front-foot no-balls cause disputes, slow games and frustrate players. Coaches also lose valuable data every time a delivery is bowled.
Give umpires an instant, objective second opinion on bowled, bail-off and run-out calls, with replay on a tablet at square leg.
Fuse stump-mounted vibration sensing with audio and video cues to flag faint edges and ball-bat-stump contact.
Track the bowler's front foot against the popping crease using pose estimation and alert the umpire within the same over.
Capture every delivery's line, length and outcome automatically so coaches can review sessions without manual tagging.
Output a stump-cam 4K feed and replays over HDMI/SDI or Wi-Fi to streaming software for school and club broadcasts.
Run fair, data-rich matches at schools and indoor centres where no third umpire is available.
The centre-stump 4K camera records at up to 120 fps (1080p at 240 fps for slow motion) while IMU and impact sensors in every stump and bail sample continuously.
On-device models detect and track the ball, bails and batter's pose in real time on the K230D / Hailo-8L processor.
Sensor fusion classifies the event — bowled, bail off, edge, no-ball — and LED bail lights signal the result in under 150 ms.
An instant slow-motion clip with the decision overlay is generated and pushed to the umpire tablet over 5G Wi-Fi 6E.
Matches, deliveries and clips sync to the IEMI dashboard for coaches, scorers and players after the game.
In the app
The IEMI umpire app shows live decisions, slow-motion replays and ball data on a tablet; the web dashboard stores every match for coaches and scorers.
Off-stump impact, bails off in 9 ms
Faint contact before keeper catch
Bail moved but stayed in groove — NOT OUT
Leg stump module, ~5 h remaining
Runs on-device · Kendryte K230D
Detects the ball at speed and builds a trajectory across frames near the stumps.
Model: YOLO11-n (small-object tuned) + Kalman tracker
Confirms bail dislodgement from bail IMU data and video, rejecting wind and vibration false positives.
Model: 1D-CNN on IMU signals + frame-difference verifier
Estimates batter and bowler keypoints for front-foot and stance analysis.
Model: RTMPose / YOLO11-pose
Classifies each delivery outcome: wicket, edge, no-ball, leave, beaten.
Model: Temporal transformer over fused sensor + vision features
Separates bat-on-ball from bat-on-pad and ground sounds using stump vibration and microphone spectrograms.
Model: MobileNetV3 audio classifier
Targets for production units. Subject to change during development.

Yes. The $49 deposit is fully refundable any time before your unit ships — email hello@iemilabs.com or use the refund link in your confirmation email. It is credited in full against the purchase price, and reserving creates no obligation to buy. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.
SmartStump Pro is designed to fit regulation stump and bail dimensions. Governing-body review and certification are planned after launch; until then it is intended for club, school, academy and training use as a decision-support tool for umpires.
Yes. Ball tracking and decisions run on the processor inside the stumps. Video only leaves the set when you choose to sync replays to your dashboard or stream them, and you can run entirely offline.
Push the stumps into the pitch like normal stumps (or use the optional base socket for permanent venues), place the bails, and pair the set with the umpire app. A one-minute calibration aligns the camera with the crease.
Over 5G Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth LE for pairing. No venue internet is required for decisions; internet is only needed to sync replays to the cloud.
Electronics are suspended on an impact-isolated chassis inside a composite shell rated for full-pace deliveries, and the bails are designed to be replaced individually.
We are planning a 2-year limited hardware warranty covering manufacturing defects, with advance replacement for pilot and business customers. Final warranty terms will be published before shipping begins.
